Solar for business - commercial solar panels
Commercial
Power
your business
Extensive Expertise
Our team has extensive experience working with commercial developers, property owners, and construction partners across the UK. Some of our clients include Haringey Council, Norfolk Homes and SELCE - a community co-op.
Starting with the initial design to final commissioning, we ensure your solar system is engineered for maximum efficiency, compliance, and long-term performance.
Tailored Solutions
We understand that no two commercial projects are the same — and neither are our installations. We design bespoke systems based on your site layout, energy needs, and sustainability goals.
From small commercial buildings to large multi-unit developments, we deliver solutions that work for your business - including those with unusual or complex roof layouts.
Project Management
We understand the pressures of commercial timelines. Our team works efficiently with developers, site managers, and contractors to ensure a smooth installation with minimal disruption. Clear communication, predictable schedules, and professional on-site conduct come as standard.
Benefits
of Solar Power
Energy Security
Pair solar with battery storage and keep your business moving even during power cuts or grid issues .
Improve Your EPC Rating
Boost your building's EPC to reduce running costs and comply with current and future legislation .
Strengthen Your Green Credentials
Reduce your carbon footprint from day one and your move to a net-zero future when you switch to solar.
Quick Payback
Larger properties mean bigger systems and greater energy generation which means an average payback period of just 3-4 years.
Strong Returns
By cutting costs for decades and protecting from energy market volatility, your Internal Rate of Return (IRR) could be between 10-20%+
Protection Against Rising Energy Costs
Generate your own, clean energy, and significantly reduce your reliance on the grid and fluctuating prices
Lower Energy Costs
In 2025 grid energy prices ranged from 35-45p per kWh whereas over a 25+ year lifespan, the levelised cost from solar can range from just 5-10p.
Price Security
Solar helps protect your business from fluctuating energy prices and economic uncertainties.
Sustainability
Improve your ESG reporting - demonstrate measurable sustainability improvements through improved EPCs.
Costs & Financing
Installation Costs
Costs will depend on several factors including roof type, products chosen and complexity of the installation, however a 50kWp rooftop solar install (small to medium sized commercial unit) typically costs between £25,000 to £50,000 (excluding VAT). This includes all products, labour & commissioning. If opting for battery storage, allow for an additional £8,000-£15,000 (ex. VAT).
Financial Return
A 50kWp system can generate approx. 45,000-50,000 kWh per year, depending on location & shading. This could save c. £10,000 per year on electricity bills (based on 50% self consumption & £0.40 avg. grid price per kWh), paying for itself in 4-6 years. Over the lifetime of the system, total savings can exceed £150,000–£200,000, depending on energy usage and price fluctuations of grid electricity.
Payment Options
➱ Outright Purchase (CapEx)
If you have sufficient capital reserves to pay upfront for your system then not only could this drive the greatest long-term returns for you, but it can also give you access to tax benefits - such as the Annual Investment Allowance (AIA). You'll also start to see the benefit on your energy bills straight away without having to account for any interest/monthly repayments. This option also allows you to enhance your system if you find you need to add more panels/batteries later.
➱ Leasing /Lease-Purchase
If you don't have the means for an upfront investment but can make monthly re-payments over a fixed period of time, then lease plans could be an option for you. This means you can start benefiting immediately from reduced energy costs from having solar installed but the ownership of the panels will only transfer once the payment terms are complete (Lease Purchase). There are options to purely lease the system in which case the ownership of the system may not transfer - this will depend on the terms of the agreement. This route can help with budgeting an you may also be entitled to claim tax relief under these agreements - such as the Annual Investment Allowance (AIA)
➱ Power Purchase Agreements
If you don't want any, or minimal, upfront costs but want to improve your Green Credentials/benefit from lower energy costs then a PPA could be an option for you. In this case a 3rd-party investor will fund, install and own the Solar PV system. Your company will then buy the electricity generated at a fixed or discounted rate lower than your grid rate. This route means no capital is tied up, you're typically not responsible for the maintenance of the system but you get an immediate benefit on energy costs. However as you don't own the panels you won't be able to claim for capital allowances or certain incentives. These agreements often run for 15-30 years.
Payment Solutions with smartease
If you're ready to start your switch to solar energy and take greater control over your energy costs but don't have the CapEx to fund it upfront, we can help. We've partnered with smartease who can support you with payment solutions to meet your business goals.
Whether you are looking for support via a payment plan (like a mobile phone contract) or just want the energy savings and no ownership or maintenance of the system, smartease can work with you to get the solution you need.
